Jude Ruetschle

Jude Ruetschle is a student of theology and psychology in Spokane, Washington. He drinks copious amounts of tea and convinces himself he is immune to caffeine. He writes, but always too little, and is learning to appreciate the space between words. His poetry has been published in Ekstasis and nominated for Bright Wings Audience Choice award.

magpie

Moses saw the magpie

and he wept

for the thrill of darkness, the enclosure of light.

And oh, that pagan thrill!

When God asked him to dance his little dance

and God clapped his little hands

and they reclined in the shade—

the anonymity of each others’ faces.

God didn’t know Moses,

Moses didn’t know God,

and their faces shone with light.
