Ryan Diaz is a poet, writer, and theologian from Queens, NY. He holds a BA in History from St. Johns University and is currently completing a MA in Biblical Studies. His work has been featured in publications like Ekstasis, Premier Christianity, Dappled Things, and Busted Halo. Ryan’s writing attempts to find the divine in the ordinary, the thin place where fantasy and reality meet. His first poetry collection, For Those Wandering Along the Way, was released in 2021. an excerpt from “the holy present”
If we genuinely believe we can control our lives, we no longer need a caring creator, and we fall for the false hope that we can exercise our will over the created order. The great irony is that by trying to control our world, we instead lose control. We are burdened by cares meant for the creator and not the creature.
